Richard Stevens received a B.S. degree in Genetics from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of Washington in Seattle. He is a cancer epidemiologist and Professor at the University of Connecticut Medical School.
His research has focused on body iron and risk of cancer, and then beginning in 1987 on the potential role of electric lighting in causing circadian disruption leading to increased risk of breast cancer in women. This idea is now receiving wide scientific and public interest.
